Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Musculoskeletal
Physiotherapist?

Musculoskeletal physiotherapists are highly trained allied health professionals that treat those with bone, muscle, or joint issues through education and advice, exercise and movement, and manual therapy.

What do I need to bring for
my appointment?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring scan/MRI reports, list of medications, and your doctor’s referral letter.

How many visits will
I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, the physiotherapist will discuss their treatment plan for the rehabilitation process.

What should I wear to
my appointment?

If the treatment is contained to your hands and feet, you will not be required to disrobe, but if it involves your knee or spine, you may need to expose the affected area for a physical or visual examination and as such, the recommended attire during treatment is T shirt and shorts.

Do I have to be referred by
a doctor?

No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However most health insurers require a doctors referral before they authorise cover of fees.

What to expect from your first
physiotherapy session?

The physiotherapy consultation will last for about 45mins. We will ask you questions about your musculoskeletal issues, perform a physical exam that may include assessing your range of motion, strength and flexibility and devise an appropriate management plan for your condition.

What physiotherapy treatments
do you offer?

Physiotherapy treatment typically involves but is not limited to: education about your presenting condition, ergonomic advice, therapeutic exercise, joint mobilisations, soft tissue mobilisation, spinal manipulation (“high velocity thrust” techniques), cognitive functional therapy, and in some cases electrotherapy such as ultrasound and functional electrical stimulation.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Grabpay, PayNow, AMEX, Visa and Mastercard. We also do direct billing with our insurance partners.

Do i need home therapy?

Home therapy is warranted if you have difficulty travelling to the clinic due to your musculoskeletal condition. For example, following a total knee or total hip replacement, you may wish to do home therapy for the early phases of rehabilitation.
